Global circumference has always been the ultimate routing by, land, sea, and air. It has recently been highlighted on television.
The aviation data and analytics provider OAG set itself the challenge of planning around the world flight bookings using only low-cost carriers and also by legacy airlines.
Bearing in mind that this was a last-minute booking, the legacy (Economy) journey across the world cost £3,200. Departing mid-afternoon on Tuesday and back in London by Friday evening seems an efficient routing at around 76 hours.
In comparison, the journey using low-cost airlines takes closer to 110 hours; 34 hours longer than the alternative option, but costs £1,400 less, coming in at around £1,800.
