Tuesday 7 February sees the first Aviation Club luncheon of 2023 with Guest of Honour Jonathan Hinkles, Chief Executive of Loganair, the Scottish airline.
Loganair, established 1 February 1963, is Britain’s longest continually flying scheduled passenger operator flying under its original name. It made its maiden service between Dundee and the then Turnhouse Airport, Edinburgh, in October of that year. Today it is the UK’s largest regional airline employing over 800 staff and 42 aircraft. It serves more UK airports than every other airline combined.
Jonathan (47) joined the airline industry some 28 years ago initially with Gatwick-based CityFlyer Express followed by a short spell in a sales role at Southend operator British World Airlines. His career has featured both long- and short-haul airlines in both commercial and operational areas. He was a founding Director of charter airline Astraeus; Managing Director of Zoom; Commercial Director and COO of Loganair, before spending four years with Virgin Atlantic. He returned to Loganair in June 2016 as Chief Executive.
In October 2022, Loganair confirmed that the existing sole owners, brothers Stephen (72) and Peter Bond (61), were seeking a buyer to act as the company's "custodian for the next generation."
The February lunch will be held at the Royal Over-Seas League, Over-Seas House, London SW1A 1NN. It is approached from Piccadilly, via St James’s Street and Park Place.
