After a two-year absence, British Airways has announced it will resume services between the UK and mainland China. Tickets have gone on sale for flights to Shanghai from 23 April and Beijing from 3 June.
BA first flew to China in 1980 and continued to do so until the pandemic. The airline says it has been working hard to reintroduce these important routes to enable customers to reunite with family and friends.
From 23 April, flights will operate daily between Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. From 3 June, flights will operate four times per week between Heathrow and Beijing Daxing Airport. Until that time travellers will need to connect
For Virgin Atlantic the gateway to China is Shanghai with connections via its new Skyteam domestic partner China Eastern (see in this month’s TNU). A daily service begins on 1 May.
On the Heathrow – Hong Kong route there are now up to four daily Cathay Pacific services and a single British Airways operation.
