Article from TNU MARCH 2023

For enthusiasts and private pilots

In keeping with the Travel News Update philosophy of looking into the future rather than delving into events that have taken place we list here a some of Flyer’s top General Aviation events for 2023.

Which is the most interesting is up to you to decide, but Lundy Island (30 July) is somewhat challenging being a 400m long grass strip.  For most visitors, and an experience itself, MS Oldenburg sails from either Bideford or Ilfracombe, depending on tides.

The wonderful Shuttleworth Collection and Gardens at Old Warden, just south of Bedford gains a mention for its Flying Proms evening Airshow (19 August).  Easy to get to, open seven days a week, the venue is more than vintage aircraft and a whole day out for the family.

For those with more ambition and larger pockets the daddy of them all is Oshkosh, the world’s largest fly-in convention and the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual gathering (24-30 July), about 100 miles north of Milwaukee.
