Check your airport's security rules

London City Airport has become the first UK airport to officially scrap the limit on the amount of liquid passengers can take onboard an aircraft.  It follows similar moves from a number of airports across Europe.

Terminal 4 at Heathrow has a similar arrangement and this is being rolled out at Terminals 2, 3 and 5.  Birmingham and Gatwick airports are also moving ahead with the new technology.

Passengers are advised to check with their departure airports before arriving, and also confirm with the airport used on their return to the UK, or be faced with dumping liquid items over 100mm.

Travellers passing through approved security systems can take up to 2 litres of liquid in their carry-on luggage, and no items need to be kept in clear plastic bags.  Laptops are no longer required to be removed from bags at the point of screening.  All UK airports need to be equipped by summer 2024.
