Drones have an association

The Association of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (ARPAS-UK) is the drone community trade association and professional body.

Founded in 2013, ARPAS supports members from start-up businesses to larger established operations, operators, manufacturers, software, and service companies through promotion of innovation and best practice.

ARPAS-UK Chairman is Graham Brown who has served as a director of a wide range of international and British businesses in the technology, manufacturing, services, e-retail and financial services sectors.  Anne-Lise Scaillierez is CEO, a partner at The Drone Office, a consulting company specialising in aerial drones. She is a CAA qualified small unmanned aircraft system SUAS pilot.

On behalf of its members, ARPAS works closely with:

  • Industry regulators, in particular the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
  • UK government departments – primarily Department for Transport (DfT), Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) – to provide feedback and consultations with the objective to ensure that the regulatory framework for the safe and professional operation of drones is fit for purpose and encourages best practice and the wide adoption by drones.
  • Other key stakeholders in the development of national and international drone strategies and standards to the benefit of its members and the industries they serve.
