The September luncheon of the Aviation Club of the United Kingdom is at the Royal Overseas League, Pall Mall, on Tuesday 12 September. Featured Guest of Honour is Tom Stoddart, Managing Director of BA CityFlyer (London City Airport) and BA EuroFlyer (Gatwick Airport).
Stoddart is British Airways through and through having joined the airline’s Pilot Cadetship programme in 1998.
After graduating as a 737 First Officer he moved to the 747 fleet in 2005 based at Heathrow. In 2010 he returned to Gatwick as the 737 Flight Technical Manager and in 2013 became the Gatwick Chief Pilot, by 2014 heading the operation and setting up Gatwick Ground Services in 2015. This was followed by a short tenure at New York in 2017 to negotiate BA’s introduction of T8, a new home for BA's marque route.
Stoddart has been Managing Director of BA CityFlyer since 2018, overseeing its continued expansion, and guiding the stand-alone BA branded operation through the most difficult two years in the history of civil aviation.
As Managing Director he led the creation of EuroFlyer in 2021, a separate operation from BA Mainline.
EuroFlyer operates 14 various Airbus A320 series aircraft compared with CityFlyer’s 22 smaller Embraer 190s (150 seats v 100 seats).
No doubt Stoddart will comment on new routes and aircraft fleet developments at both airports.
