Article from TNU SEPTEMBER 2023

World Aviation Festival

The 2023 World Aviation Festival takes place at Lisbon’s FIL – Exhibition and Congress Centre 26–28 September.

Key speakers will include Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates, originally billed as his last major appearance before retirement, but now superseded by a London attendance at Airlines 2023 (see advert above) and TNU regular contributor John Strickland will be interviewing the head of an airline that at this time does not actually exist, the vastly experienced Tony Douglas, recently appointed Chief Executive of new Saudi carrier Riyadh Air.

Leading the 400 presenters is from host nation Luis Rodrigues, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, TAP Air Portugal, together with Luis Gallego, Chief Executive Officer, International Airlines Group.  IATA is once again represented by Willie Walsh, Director General, and from perhaps the world’s largest non-IATA airline, Eddie Wilson, Chief Executive Officer, Ryanair. Other high-profile speakers making an appearance are Patrick Roux, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, SkyTeam and where it comes to ground handling Marina Bottelli, Chief Executive Officer, Swissport.

The conference agenda lists 20 subjects, including for the first time ‘AI in aviation’.
