It’s back to four trains an hour all day. With Stansted Airport now above the 2019 figures Greater Anglia will be back to a full schedule from 10 December. Presently it is twice an hour except at peak times in the morning and evening.
Between Monday and Saturday there will be departures every 15 minutes from Liverpool Street Station between 05:10 and 22:55. Coming from the airport trains will run every 15 minutes between 06:00 and 23:59. The arrival of the Elizabeth Line at the London end of the route is seen as a real bonus in terms of connections including Moorgate Station for the Northern Line Underground and part of the complex.
On Sundays, the 15-minute service will operate between 06:10 and 22:55 from Liverpool Street and from 07:00 to 23:59 from Stansted.
All the trains offer a connection at Tottenham Hale, convenient for the Victoria line Underground and a 20-minute walk to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Every alternative train stops at either Bishops Stortford or Harlow Town, although for reasons best known to themselves Greater Anglia, does not highlight this on its timetable.
The major problem is that for much of its route the Stansted Express operates as a twin path railway with no flexibility over track use. The Stansted train competes with suburban lines that stop at every station.
The new timetable is marginally quicker at 47 minutes with new 12-carriage rolling stock from Swiss group Stadler offering 80% more seats than the trains it replaced.
