British Airways has completed the final refresh of its sometimes forlorn/forgotten Galleries lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5B, introducing a new servery area, deli station, updated furniture and a quiet zone.
There is no lounge in the even more remote Terminal 5C but that it does offer WH Smith, World Duty Free and Starbucks.
Back in July, British Airways made it known that it was ‘refreshing’ the Galleries lounge at the B terminal, first stop on the T5 transit. This BA lounge complements the sometimes-confusing main lounge complex in T5 and offers a useful relaxing area close by the actual aircraft boarding.
Phase One of this process was the installation of a Whispering Angel bar forming a new centrepiece to the lounge. The furniture has been replaced and reupholstered.
If you are in the main terminal Galleries lounge one has to guess the time needed for getting to the actual gate, which can be sometimes nerve-racking. It does not matter which class of airborne travel you are in one still has to wait for a lift, train, and another lift at the other end.
The lounge is one class with a live preparation / cooking area for made-to-order items and a buffet servery for hot and cold food. There are showers but no Elemis spa. If you are departing from 5C it is an alternative to the busy main terminal complex, with access again by the regular transit, or a short walk.
BA also has a single class lounge at the north end of T5, useful if departing from a gate in that area.
