Expansion for BA CityFlyer

British Airways CityFlyer, based at London City Airport (LCY), is to offer weekend holiday flights from Edinburgh and Stansted airports for the summer season.

These will be flown by the popular two-class Embraer 190 aircraft with 98 seats 2+2. For most travellers the schedule allows for a six-night stopover.

This is considered commercially a positive move due to LCY not at this time securing planning position for a limited increase in Saturday aircraft movements.

From Edinburgh, San Sebastian in Spain (25 May – 30 July) and Olbia in Sardinia (25 May – 10 August) are added.  The airline already has a base at the Scottish capital, LCY’s second most popular route after Amsterdam.

The schedule offers a Saturday Edinburgh – San Sebastian 17:00 and with the return 21:10, the timings making for a full day before joining the flight.  Alternatively, there is a Tuesday service 10:40 coming back 21:10.

Olbia flights will operate on a Saturday only, the outbound leaving Edinburgh 07:00, return departing Sardina 11:45.

At Stansted CityFlyer is making a return to pre-pandemic days with fights to Florence, Ibiza and Nice.  The aircraft will operate in what is known industry wide as a ‘W’ rotation. All the airports are LCY destinations.  The programme starts on Saturday 18 May.

On Sundays British Airways departure is at 07:55 and arriving Florence at 11:10.  The return is on a Saturday, leaving Florence at 16:15 and arriving Stansted at 17:30.

The Ibiza schedule offers a Sunday flight leaving Stansted at 15:00 and arriving Ibiza at 18:25.  Again the return is on a Saturday departing Ibiza at 11:35 arriving Stansted at 13:05.

With Nice the flight leaves Stansted on Sundays 09:35 arriving at 11:35 with the return leg on the Saturday departing Nice at 11:20 and arriving in Stansted at 12:20.

The final weekend of the programme is completed on Sunday 11 August.
