Gatwick and China

China Southern has introduced twice-weekly flights between Gatwick and Zhengzhou, the home of the world’s largest iPhone factory.

The airline – China’s largest – introduced services on Tuesday 12 December, offering twice-weekly flights to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, with a Boeing 787-8 aircraft and a three-class (Business, Premium Economy and Economy) layout. It is the only direct service between London and Zhengzhou.

Gatwick is also served by Air China, the national airline with daily flights to Beijing, and China Eastern twice daily to Shanghai.  In total there are 16 weekly flights to China.

Patricia Yates, Chief Executive, VisitBritain said: “China is an incredibly important inbound visitor market, our second most valuable in 2019 and we know the UK is high on the wish list of Chinese travellers. The new China Southern route into London Gatwick is fantastic news for holiday-makers and business visitors alike. Zhengzhou is the capital of the Henan province with a population of more than 100 million.  It is situated the west of Shanghai and south of Beijing.  Covering 170,00km sq it has a population of one hundred million.
