Faced with unprecedented competition from Ryanair, Aer Lingus has withdrawn its services out of Gatwick to Dublin from the start of the summer season at the end of March. The summer programme shows no flights. Previously up to four flights a day were offered. Ryanair has a maximum of seven services daily and now a monopoly on the route.
Cork is served daily by Aer Lingus from the South London airport, whilst Belfast, with its two airports, is easyJet only from Gatwick with five flights to the international airport daily and two to George Best.
From Heathrow the choice to Dubin is 11 flights from the central area T2 Aer Lingus, or 7 British Airways (BA) out of T5, the terminal easy from the M25 motorway, but less so with the Transport for London (TfL) services which take about 5 minutes longer. If you are connecting from Dublin with BA long-haul T5 can make much more sense but some BA flights go from T3.
Confused.
Be careful with your booking.
