Norse Atlantic Airways plans to grow at a “steady pace” after announcing an extension to the subleases for four of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The Oslo-based carrier, with its significant presence at Gatwick, has a fleet of 15 Boeing Dreamliners and will itself operate 12 this summer.
The two-class low-cost carrier currently subleases the four aircraft to Air Europa and this arrangement has been further extended. Three of the Dreamliners will be returned to Norse in spring 2025, while the fourth B787 will rejoin the carrier’s fleet this year in early May as it gears up for its peak summer schedule.
The carrier serves transatlantic routes from Athens, Berlin, London, Oslo, Paris and Rome, after launching its first service in June 2022. From Gatwick it currently flies to Barbados (BGI), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), Montego Bay Jamaica (MBJ), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO) and Washington Dulles (IAD).
Bjørn Tore Larsen, the CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic, said: “This extension to the sublease agreements for four of our Dreamliner aircraft provides a further opportunity to increase secured total cash profit during the lease period.
“Our strategy is to grow at a steady pace in line with market demand. We intend to operate 12 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft during our summer 2024 season and we look forward to building up to a fully operational fleet of 15 aircraft in 2025”.
