IAG’s Vueling will arrive at Heathrow Terminal 4 on 7 April. In an unusual step the airline will borrow slots from sister company British Airways and offer twice daily service to Barcelona, and a single daily flight to Paris Orly.
Barcelona is a popular destination from the UK (and Heathrow) but Orly, in the Paris suburbs has never been a success from London, a London City Airport (LCY) service stopped many years back. There are no direct train services from Orly to central Paris. With the 2024 Olympics it may prove to be a useful alternative to Charles de Gaulle – and Eurostar.
With the addition of these two services to its existing eight daily flights from Gatwick, Vueling will now run ten flights a day from London to Barcelona, making it the market leader on this route.
Vueling, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), is one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines. Carrying 29.8m passengers in 2022, the airline plays a significant role in connecting Spain with both domestic and European flights.
Vueling currently departs from six airports in the UK (Gatwick and Heathrow, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester) to locations across Spain, France and Italy. It was founded in 2004.
