Air Peace signs for Gatwick

Nigerian airline Air Peace is to begin operating flights between Gatwick and Lagos from next month.  Some of the flights will be operated by Norse Atlantic Airways.

The airline introduced scheduled services in 2014, and currently has a fleet of more than 30 aircraft, operating nearly 40 routes including ten regional and six international destinations, typically Dubai, Guangzhou, Johannesburg, Mumbai and Tel Aviv.

Air Peace has signed a short-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) agreement with Norse to operate some of the flights on the new route which will be flown by Boeing Dreamliner aircraft.  The carrier’s main long-haul plane is the Boeing 777.

Allen Onyema, Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, said: “Air Peace is delighted to have signed this partnership deal with Norse Atlantic Airways for the commencement of our London service.

“As we make a foray into the European market, we are confident that this strategic partnership will further position us to surpass the expectations of our customers.”

Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, added: “This collaboration represents an exciting opportunity to leverage our expertise in charter operations to deliver a reliable and high-quality service to Air Peace and their customers.”

In a statement, the two airlines added that they would continue to discuss “potential longer-term partnerships”.
