FREENOW steps up its UK operation

Said to be the largest transport App service operation in Europe FREENOW, based in Hamburg, is expanding its activities in the UK, initially based on the London taxi trade.

FREENOW describes itself as a “Mobility Super App” with the biggest taxi choice for consumers in nine markets and in over 150 cities. In London alone there are 21,000 black cabs licensed by the Public Carriage Office.  Unlike other personal transport services such as UBER you can actually hail a taxi from wherever you are standing or book via the FREENOW App.

The App gathers numerous mobility labels with the ambition to make urban mobility more efficient and sustainable without adding new vehicles on the street.

Users can access all types of mobility services within the single app including public transport services, taxis, private hire vehicles, car sharing, e-scooters, e-bikes, and e-mopeds.

As part of its UK promotion FREENOW recently became a sponsor of Premier League team, Luton Town, an acknowledgment of the Bedfordshire-based football club rise in prominence in the UK and worldwide.

Mariusz Zabrocki, General Manager at FREENOW, said: “It is a privilege to be the first on sleeve sponsor and official mobility partner for Luton Town FC in the Premier League.  Our shared vision, ethics and commitments to the community will help make this a strong partnership that benefits fans residence and local cab drivers alike”.

I have never heard of Free Now but I assume it is a competitor to UBER, another strange name. If the cabs are cheaper, or the same, I will use them. Better suited to London than a Toyota
