Having made its last mission 24 October 2003 Concorde is still making headlines all over the world.
Do see https://nypost.com/2024/03/13/us-news/concorde-jet-is-making-its-way-back-to-the-intrepid-museum-after-restoration for a series of images from the New York Post as Concorde makes its way from the Brooklyn Navy Yard down the East River to the Intrepid Museum. Following a feature in The Times, the “Letters to the Editor” column published a response by TNU Editor-in-chief Malcolm Ginsberg.
“Whilst Concorde G-BOAD sits magnificently in New York Harbour (The Times 15 April) Concorde G-BOAB rots at Heathrow. Is it not about time that British Airways does something about it? Why not add a conference centre and visitor attraction. It’s good for Heathrow and London too”.
Sited within walking distance of Hatton Cross Underground Station, Concorde could become a key element for a visitor/education/training attraction which would combine the largely unknown and little used British Airways Heritage Collection and the University of West London’s Ealing located Heathrow exhibition (see link below). Ginsberg says it needs an enterprising entrepreneur to progress such a scheme.
