Airports UK - AOA is 90

The really big news at the Airport Operators Association’s (AOA) recent Grosvenor House annual dinner has not taken place yet!  Read on.

At its 90th anniversary gala dinner at London’s Grosvenor House (Tuesday 19 March), the AOA, the trade body for UK airports, announced that later this year it will change its name to Airports UK.  The date has yet to be decided, with new branding and a new logo to accompany the change.

Speaking on the night, Karen Dee, Chief Executive of AOA, said: “We are proud of our heritage at the AOA representing the UK’s airports and aerodromes, having been formed 90 years ago this month. Our members will still benefit from the unrivalled representation we provide on their behalf to decision-makers, the regulators, the media, and colleagues from across the aviation sector.

“Air travel is now more popular and accessible to more people than ever before and it is important this remains the case, so everyone can enjoy the benefits of travel. We will continue to make the case for this under our new name, Airports UK, as we all look to the future and seek to address the challenges we never even considered back in 1934”.

The AOA's mission is to see UK airports grow sustainably. It represents the views of over 50 UK airports to Government, Parliament and regulators to secure policy outcomes that help deliver its mission.

At the dinner everyone used the term “Airports UK”.  And no comment of course from Airlines UK, but there is little chance of getting the names muddled up.

www.aoa.org.uk Whether this website name is changed is the subject of conjecture.
