Israeli airline, El Al, is to launch non-stop flights from Dublin to Tel Aviv, starting 26 March. It was originally set to start March 2000.
The three weekly flights will be the first non-stop service between the two countries, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with a flight time of approximately six hours. Using a Boeing 737, the flight route will offer both Business Class and Economy with full on-board service.
The Holy Land has always been a popular destination for the Irish as a place for religious pilgrimage. Whilst mainly addressed to residents of the Irish Republic the new route is expected to appeal to residents of The Six Counties who would otherwise need to transit to Heathrow or Manchester airports, or linking points on the European mainland.
New business opportunities are expected to be established for both countries as a result of the flight route introduction, particularly due to the growing relationship between the two high-tech sectors.
