Top secret Lotus prototype discovered

To be revealed at Classic Team Lotus Garden Party 15−16 June.

One of the stars of the weekend is likely to be a late 1960’s Lotus prototype production car discovered in Halstead, Essex, in 2016 under a tarpaulin and since then meticulously restored.

East Carleton Manor was the Chapman family home from 1967 and represents Hazel and Colin Chapman Heritage in many special ways.

Classic Team Lotus is developing the gathering to create another special occasion and, as such, one example of each of the first 12 Lotus car designs will be gathered together for the first time.  Plus this remarkable car that never made it and was lost!

Formula One took Colin and Hazel Chapman on their extraordinary journey from the humble lock-up in North London to the glamour of the Monaco Grand Prix – and beyond – in just ten years. The Elite, Elan and Europa, amazing cars, are now replaced by today’s remarkable Emira, Eletre and Emeya.

In another first, the unprecedented presentation of the early years of Lotus will be accompanied by the recent discovery of Stan Chapman’s personal film archive which provides never seen footage of the very earliest days, from the Mk II onwards. Garden Party guests will enjoy the first public viewing of this ‘buried treasure’.

Tickets are available at https://classicteamlotus.co.uk/en/news/posts/2024/classic-team-lotus-garden-party-2024 where you can also find a highlights film.

Classic Team Lotus tours are available at
