Turkish hotel group Kaya Tourism Group has acquired the historic Grade II-listed Great Northern Hotel in King’s Cross. Originally dating from 1854 it sits in-between King’s Cross and St Pancras stations.
The purchase of the 88-bedroom property is Kaya’s first London hotel and marks the beginning of the company’s expansion into the UK and the wider European market.
Kaya Tourism Group is part of Kaya Holding, which owns and operates 13 hotels in Turkey and Cyprus, across its two brands – Kaya Palazzo Hotels and Resorts and Kaya Hotels and Resorts.
Burak Kaya, Chairman of the Board at Kaya Holding, said: “We are proud to be the first Turkish tourism company to make such a significant hotel investment in the UK and believe this investment will strengthen mutual tourism relations between Turkey and the UK. We are actively considering the next options for further expansion into Europe”.
