Flyr is a low-cost Norwegian airline carrier launched in late 2021. (see www.btnews.co.uk/article/17722)
The airline plans to introduce services from Gatwick to Oslo for the summer 2023 season, starting in late March with either Boeing 737-800s or the MAX variant, six of each in the current fleet, some of which have been leased out for the winter period.
With a Norse Atlantic arrangement in place the early evening Gatwick departure will complement the airline’s morning operation which is essentially a positioning flight from Oslo, via Gatwick to New York JFK.
On 25 November, the airline announced that Brede Huser had taken over as CEO, replacing founding CEO Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid. Huser has been CFO of the airline since before its June 2021 launch. Prior to that, he was with Norwegian for 19 years.
“Our goal right now is to deliver on our new updated business plan,” Huser told Aviation Daily in an interview 6 December. The airline is reported to have also come to a marketing arrangement with IAG member Vueling.
Also serving the route is Norwegian with three flights daily.
