Summer timetables and Heathrow moves

Airlines all over the world are now into their summer timetables and whilst this will not affect most travellers it is worthwhile looking at any future bookings to see if the timings have altered.

A major change is the Air France/KLM’s operation at Heathrow.  It has now moved in its entirety to T4, in many ways the best of the airport’s terminals with an easy drop off, Elizabeth and Piccadilly line Tube services, and much less walking.  It only serves around 10m passengers (as against 30m at T5) and has much the same landside amenities.

Eligible Air France and KLM customers will have access to the Plaza Premium Lounge. Open from 05:00 to 22:00 daily it is located on Level 2 after security (between Gate 1a and 1b) The lounge offers a selection of hot and cold food, a fully tended bar, showers, as well as wi-fi and other facilities.

Landside and airside connections for SkyTeam passengers require a minimum of 90 minutes, and this includes travellers on new member Virgin Atlantic based in T3.

One big boost for Air France (AF) is the introduction of Airbus A220-300s on the Paris Charles de Gaulle route.  The AF configured former Bombardier C series aircraft has two class 2+3 seating and only accommodates 148 passengers as against the previous A320 series planes with up to 174 souls.  The Business Class is also 2+3 with the middle seat not used.  TNU hopes to report on the service shortly.
