Luton Airport update

And Dan Air returns.

But not the ubiquitous offspring of a shipping company that was a major British independent airline created in the 1960s, finally failing in 1991.

This Dan Air is a Romanian airline based in Bucharest that introduced scheduled services last year having flown as a charter airline since 2017.

The three-hour Airbus A320 flights operate on a Monday and Friday from Luton (LTN) to Bacau (BCM) in the east of the country and the 14th largest Romanian city.  The airline competes with Wizz Air who operate Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

With easyJet and Wizz Air currently suspending flights to Tel Aviv (TLV) El Al flies a two-class Boeing 737-800 at least once a day except Tuesday and Saturday. (also see Israel – The flights situation in this month’s TNU.)

Following the disastrous Car Park 2 fire on 10 October (see TNU November edition) the airport says that bus/coach services are running to the terminal as usual. There is a free shuttle operation for passengers parking in/being dropped off at the Mid Stay Car Park. Work is about to start on a new Car Park 2.
