Paris Olympics

Do not go near Paris from Friday 26 July until Sunday 11 August, the date of the Paris Olympics, or for that matter 28 August to 8 September when the Paralympic Games take place!

Go and see the film.

That is if you do not have tickets for the various events, or at least accommodation!

And if you do, make sure you carry your paperwork all the time.

The Oscar winning Chariots of Fire refers to the 1924 Paris Olympics and its Vangelis' electronic theme tune. Expect to hear it many times over the coming months.

From the UK there is plenty of travel choice whether it be air, ferry, tunnel or Eurostar who say that 415,000 tickets have already been sold across its network. The company is poised to transport over 2,000 Olympic and Paralympic athletes from Team GB, Team Belgium, Team Netherlands, and Team Germany.

With the football the matches will take place in seven of the biggest stadiums in France: Paris (Parc des Princes), Nantes (La Beaujoire Stadium), Bordeaux (Bordeaux Stadium), Marseille (Marseille Stadium), Nice (Nice Stadium), Saint-Etienne (Geoffroy Guichard Stadium) and Lyon (Lyon Stadium).  The United Kingdom does not compete in the competition.
