A series of air turbulence incidents in very recent weeks has focused on the fact that it is not compulsory for travellers to wear safety seat belts on commercial flights for the whole journey.

Gatwick tribunal

Underway is a Public Inquiry (started end of February) for Gatwick Airport to routinely use its existing standby (emergency) runway.  Publication of a final decision by the Secretary of State is not expected to be announced until February 2025, with a new government in place.

ABTA 2024 Travel Convention

This year’s event will take place from 7–9 October in Costa Navarino, Messinia, sited in southwest Greece, occasionally called the Peloponnese.

Johan Lundgren has announced that he will step down as CEO of easyJet at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Kent Jarvis, the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

Emirates to Edinburgh

The introduction on 27 June will see a twice weekly (Thursday and Sunday) flight between Edinburgh and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side of the city.  This will be an all-year-round service and flown by an Airbus A320 series aircraft.

Eurostar to rebrand classes

+ Following the launch of Eurostar’s new website, app and rewards programme, the train operator says that customers will soon enjoy even simpler, more seamless and unique experience.
