Emirates to Edinburgh

The introduction on 27 June will see a twice weekly (Thursday and Sunday) flight between Edinburgh and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side of the city.  This will be an all-year-round service and flown by an Airbus A320 series aircraft.

From 4 November Emirates is to add Edinburgh to its UK destinations. It rejoins Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester and Newcastle.  It is a return to the route originally launched in 2018.

The Scottish capital will be served by a new Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering 312 seats across three cabins – Business (32), Premium Economy (21) and Economy (259). Edinburgh is among the first nine destinations to be served by the new model.

The airline has 65 A350-900s on order in total; further destinations will be announced "in the coming months" as more new models join the fleet.

While there is no direct competition on the Dubai – Edinburgh route, Qatar Airways currently operates four flights a week between Doha and Edinburgh.

Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive, Edinburgh Airport, hailed the resumption of daily flights between Edinburgh and Dubai "a huge show of confidence" in the Scottish market.

"Emirates is one of the world’s leading airlines and its return is great news for our passengers, providing direct access to Dubai and opening up fantastic connectivity to other parts of the world", said Dewar. "We look forward to welcoming our partners at Emirates back to the airport in November and working together on the success of this important route".
