Aviation Club lunch

On Thursday 13 June the Royal Over-Seas League will be hosting Mehmet Nane, Chairperson of Pegasus Airlines, as Guest of Honour of the Aviation Club.

Nane served as Chief Executive Officer at the Turkish low-cost carrier for six years before becoming Vice-Chairperson and subsequently Managing Director in March 2022.  Twelve months later, in March 2023, he assumed his current role.

Prior to joining Pegasus, he was Chief Executive Officer of Carrefour SA between 2013–2016, as Chief Executive Officer of Teknosa between 2005–2013, and as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Teknosa between 2000–2005. Nane, who began his business career in 1988, has extensive experience in business, including consumer retailing and banking.  He is a previous Chair of the IATA Board of Governors, always a 12-month appointment.

Pegasus operates from both Manchester and Stansted airports and will introduce a three times weekly Ankara - Dublin service on 4 July.

With 110 aircraft on its books at the end of 2023 – almost 90 of which are Airbus A320/A321neos – it expects to take another 16 A321neos and increase its overall portfolio to 118 by the end of 2024. That will further lift its share of new generation aircraft, with the planned withdrawal of seven A320 ceos and a Boeing 737-800 during 2024.
