This Lotus Elan Plus Two development car never went into production and was lost for nearly 50 years. Read the story here www.travelnewsupdate.co.uk/article/746.
Extensively rebuilt and allegedly the only automatic Colin Chapman designed Lotus road car in existence.
Revealed at the Classic Team Lotus Garden Party, East Carleton Manor, near Norwich, the car is a full four-seater (kids up to 10) with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox. It was discovered in 2016 by Lotus enthusiast Tony Allery at Halstead, Essex, underneath a car port with a tarpaulin thrown over. It was a bit of a mess.
Now meticulously restored it could sell for up to £100,000.
Link to the Garden Party www.travelnewsupdate.co.uk/article/681. Malcolm Ginsberg will be in attendance on the Saturday and Tony Allery on the Sunday.
Lotus was established in Hornsey in 1953. The original factory still stands at Tottenham Lane, forlorn.
